How Calvary Chapel Sweet Hills began
In 2005, Pastor Ryan Houssein was an Assistant Pastor at Calvary Chapel Romoland. With his Pastor's approval, Pastor Ryan and his wife Clarissa began a Home Bible Study in the city of Beaumont on Tuesday evenings. It started out small. In fact, at the first Bible Study only three people attended - Pastor Ryan, Clarissa and one neighbor. However, they remained faithful and over the next four years, the Lord began to grow the small group and they began to pray about meeting for Sunday services.
With the Lord's leading, the approval of his Pastor, and the blessing of other local Calvary Chapels, Pastor Ryan led his first Sunday Church Service on April 12th, 2009, at a home in the city of Beaumont. For the next year and an half, the small church met in Beaumont as they went through the Calvary Chapel affiliation process.
On November 7th, 2010, they officially held their first Sunday Church Service in the City of Banning as "Calvary Chapel Sweet Hills". The Lord has since continued to grow and strengthen His church in every way. There have been growing pains that haven't always been easy, but they've been a necessity to spiritual growth. Pastor Ryan and Clarissa feel so blessed to serve the Lord at Calvary Chapel Sweet Hills - Banning and are excited to see what He has in store next.
