A Word From Our Pastor
Webster's 1828 definition of being diligent is as follows: Steady in application to business; constant in effort or exertion to accomplish what is undertaken; assiduous; attentive; industrious; not idle or negligent; applied to persons.
Can you imagine how difficult it was to hunt with arrows, spears, and slings, during the days of King Solomon? Then, can you imagine that after all of that trouble, for a person to not even cook and eat what was hunted? To be lazy is to be wasteful of the opportunities and blessings that God has for us. Since we have the power of the Holy Spirit at the ready, shouldn't we be the hardest working people, the most punctual, and the most reliable? Yet so many times we fall short. I am learning that incredible blessings are in reach, all we have to do is learn to be diligent. If we seek the Lord with all of our heart and ask for His help, He will lovingly and graciously enable us to be diligent in all that we do!
Proverbs 12:24 The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy man will be put to forced labor.
Proverbs 13:04 The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.
Proverbs 20:04 The lazy man will not plow because of winter; he will beg during harvest and have nothing.
Proverbs 22:29 Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.
